Bertin discusses how his match preparation evolved over time and that ability to stay calm and composed became one of his biggest competitive advantages. He also talks about the mindset shift that took place during his senior year after finally achieving the goal of winning a state championship. Bertin didn’t view it as a finish line. Instead, it became a stepping stone. That mentality pushed him to win High School Nationals, place at Fargo, and ultimately prepared him for a historic college career that included two NCAA championships and four All-American finishes at the University of Michigan.
Looking back, Bertin says the lessons learned during those years shaped not only his athletic career, but his life as a businessman, husband, and father.
